New Year, New Resolution

So it has been a while since I blogged. I think with the holidays and being busy at school I was not able to post all the great deals that I really wanted to. I have made my resolution of the year to keep a detailed account of what deals I am able to get. I have still been faithfully collecting my coupons and scoring some great deals from free Christmas presents to groceries. My plan of action, Keep the faith and keep on going! I am thinking about having a girls night at my house for those of you that have been asking, "How do you do that?" so if anyone wants to come, give me a call or email me! I will post details when I see how many people respond!

Hubby adventures!

My husband woke up this morning in a pretty good mood until he noticed me sitting on the couch with my coupon book out putting all the latest coupons I had printed from the internet into their respected places. As he walked through the living room, he groaned.."I have to go get your newspapers now don't I" I smiled and said Yep. So off to the store he goes. Luckily he brought back breakfast! I went through the newspapers clipping my coupons while Marlie, my 5 yr old clipped hers (pictures) and put them in her hello kitty ziplock bags. BTW, I found those cute baggies on clearance at KMart. As I got ready to head out to do my Sunday shopping, my husband decided he wanted to go with me. So with hubby in tow, off to Target we went. He said he wanted to see if I was really saving us money. HAHA! I couldnt wait. We went in to the store and I went straight to the kiosk to print Target coupons. I like printing them there, saves my ink and paper! An employee spoke to me as I was printing them and noticed my notebook and politely stated I should be able to get some great deals. My hubby then asked me if I was on a first name basis with Target employees now. Needless to say, I shut him up really quick when we checked out. Here is just a quick run down of what I got today!

2 Connect4 travel games (FREE!!)
3 Hungry hungry hippo travel games
Suave deoderant
Baby wipes
Crackers
Bread
Shampoo
Dial Body Wash
Fusion Razor
Chips and Salsa
Mascara
Eyeshadow-Neutrogena
Fruit Chillers
3 2L Dr. Peppers
Tide Stain Booster
Detergent
Toothpaste
and the list goes on....

So, here we are. I have scoped out the nicest looking clerk I can find at the check out counter. My hubby couldn't understand why I went to one line when another clerk was open. So our total before coupons was $88 and his eyes about pop out of his head. I can see him starting to sweat and the "I told you so" look on his face was apparant. So one by one the coupons start ticking away at the total. Final cost with taxes $30. The I told you so look on my face=PRICELESS!! We walk out to the car to load our stuff and my husband finally says, Good Job! I don't think he minds going to get my papers after all!

The Coupon Fairy Strikes Again!

Ok, so this will make post #3 on my first day of entering the blog world but I must tell this story. It is great! My sister and I have been faithfully clipping and stockpiling our coupons to begin our savings journey. Last night, we went to Target to use coupons that we had that we could use with our Target in store coupons. We had a blast and while it wasn't a huge shopping trip we were both on a savings high. We found a Glade i-motion compact fragrance thingy that I had a $4 mfc coupon and there was a $2 Target coupon attached to it for a total savings of $6 off of $8.24 Total Cost=2.24 Awesome....or so I thought! My sister had a $6 mfc coupon for the full size I-motion and after much consideration decided against it because they were $13.99 and while it was still a good deal decided to go my route with the smaller version. So tonight, she makes a late night run to Wal-mart without the hubby or kiddos and at 11pm my phone rings. She is talking full speed ahead. Our WM marked down the full size from 13.44 to 6.00!!! Using her coupon she gets it free. Well it was the only one she had so as she was walking away to look at candles, there sits another $6 coupon. She snagged one for me! Awe, such sisterly love! The coupon fairy left us a coupon lying on the shelf! Thanks nice lady!

Baby Steps

Mission accomplished! I now have printable links. I added a few of my favorite stores as well. Since I frequent these regularly I really did it more for my benefit. Oh well. Be sure and sign up for newsletters. My suggestion is if you do not want your personal email bombarded with newsletters, coupons, etc. then set up a new one that will be specific to your coupon emails. I also recommend using the same user name and password. (There ya go SIS) It will be easier to remember and use when you want to access the great deals. I truly do feel like a fool though. I never realized just how much more money there was to save until I started couponing. While my husband thinks I may have gone off the deep end, he doesn't seem to mind these shopping trips too much!
